1 kg chuck cut into bite size pieces
2 medium onions chopped finely
butter to fry
olive oil to fry
2 tsps caraway seeds
2 heaped tbls Hungarian paprika
3 cups homemade beef broth
1 can tomatoes liquidized
salt & pepper to taste


Brown the meat in olive oil and butter. Remove meat to an ovenproof dish with a lid. Sauté the onions on a low heat. Add the dry ingredients. Mix well and sauté for a few minutes. Add the liquids and stir well. Bring to the boil. Pour over meat and stir. Cook in the oven on 180° c for two hours or until cooked stirring every now and then.
