I grew up in the beautiful historical town of Springs which has a very rich history. I spent most of my very early childhood years in my ouma’s kitchen helping her bake until the early hours of the morning.

My grandfather was a master chef who cooked for Winston Churchill and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Cooking ran in the whole family which included the men and women.

Besides my mother being a great cook, my father was amazing too and often cooked our Sunday lunches. My passion for cooking was realised when I started Banting a year ago.

My son introduced me to Banting aka The Real Meal Revolution after he sent me a photo of his Sheperds pie he’d just made. He said: “Buy the book Mom!”

Well, I bought the book, three times. The first two books were taken back for refunds until the third time when I really decided this is it and I never looked back. Within the first two months of Banting I’d come off my cholestrol pills and lost 13kg!

I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in May of 2011 and knew I had to seriously look after myself in the future.

As chemotherapy and radiation weren’t an option and do not work for kidney cancer, I had the right kidney removed and then the uretha too which were operations of six hours each. After being diagnosed, I have endured more than fifteen anaesthetics.

Realizing just how many women there are out there who don’t know how to cook, I decided to share my passion and at the same time inspire people to live a healthy Banting lifestyle, cooking the most amazing tasty food. Also showing and teaching them just how amazing this lifestyle really is and that it doesn’t have to be boring and unappetizing.
